Tech Insights: UNV Password Reset Tutorial

Resetting a UNV device password is an essential skill for installers and end users who manage CCTV systems. Whether you are working with an IP camera, DVR, or NVR, the process follows a secure method to protect your system against unauthorized access.

Why a Password Reset May Be Needed

• Lost or forgotten admin credentials.

• Change of installer or system administrator.

1. General Reset Methods

   Using the EZTools or ONVIF Device Manager

   1. Install EZTools

      • Download and install Uniview’s free EZTools software on your PC.

   2. Locate the Device

      • Open EZTools and scan your local network.

      • Select the UNV camera, DVR, or NVR that requires a reset.

   3. Obtain Device Information

      • Choose Forgot Password in EZTools.

      • The system will display a QR code or serial number.

      • Note the exact date and time shown on the device.

      • If needed, use ONVIF Device Manager to confirm the device’s current date and time.

   4. Contact Support

      • Send the QR code/serial number along with the date and time of the device to Uniview technical support or your authorized distributor (e.g., Nodac Technology).

   5. Receive Reset Key

      • Uniview support will generate a reset key based on your device information.

      • Enter the key in EZTools and set a new secure password (minimum 8 characters, mix of letters and numbers).

   Import XML file send to email and set new password. 

   Important Notes

   • Your PC must be on the same local network as the device for the SADP tool to detect it.

   • Always use strong passwords with a mix of letters, numbers, and special characters.

   • Keep your credentials in a secure record to avoid future resets.
